Mmm... gooose...

How can what's good for the goose always be what's good for the gander?

This is not only a stupid and obviously false claim, but also a blatantly goose-ist and offensively anti-ganderite statement.

Personally, I think that is one of many fluffy, pithy sayings we have that really has no depth whatsoever, but miraculously conveys an outrageous sense of "rightness" and being sociable, understanding, sympathetic and worldly wise. Fits right in with those other gregarious puffs of nothingness, like saying "how you doing" or "what's up" as you pass by someone.
