review in review

The the award for best opening line of an album review, in recent memory (which is really, really recent, given the state of my memory), goes to reviewer Jesse Jarnow of Paste magazine, for his first salvo in response to Sub Pop's 20th anniversary reissue of Mudhoney's "Superfuzz Bigmuff" (Deluxe Edition, of course).

"Before grunge turned into the grace and pain of St. Kurt and the meathead oomph of Nickelback, it was garage rock. More specifically, it was Mudhoney, and they were really drunk."

Thanks for tuning in, folks. That's how we do it here on the Cap blog. Some days it's all grace. Some days it's all minutiae. And some days it's really drunk.
