"The paint is the life"

Update, for anyone who happens to be lurking in the shadows around this blog, wondering what's up with my life. I am, at this point, a full-time house painter.

It's been a long, long time since that's been my main gig--and even when it was, I was working for someone else, not as an independent contractor. But I can honestly say that I really do enjoy painting, and I've never regretted learning the trade. It's been a good friend to me over the years, and now it's really coming through in the clinch.

There's still a plan here, for Deb to land an accounting job and become the primary breadwinner. At which point (depending on just how much bread she wins) my painting with become more of a peripheral occupation, bringing in some extra cash while I try and focus on writing, performing and recording.

We thought (and continue to think) that it's a good plan. However, despite all of our good-plan-thinking, things have thus far failed to click into place.

Thus, the painting.
