punchworthy

A blog whereby I motivate myself, and my readers, to punch me in the mouth.

Voting, Blogging, and Word Substitution. Also, funny comix! Yay!

I am a super-lousy blogger, so here is my peace offering to the blogosphere for today. (note: it is totally stolen)

For more play-along-fun at home, visit the link and just insert the word "blog," or forms of said word, anywhere you find any use of the word "vote."

Wholly appropriate.

ROCK THE VOTE! "COFFEE/DONUTS" IN 2012! AN AMERICA WE CAN EAT! ..or.. imbibe.. or whatever. (isn't one of the current candidates "imbibe".. is that going to confuse our constituents..?)

I gotta go write a memo and some talking points. Catch you later, America.

Whole lotta shakin'/Who's more well-liked than you?

We had an earthquake.

Matthew said, when I went to see what was shaking the whole house, "Dad! What was that!? It's freaking me out!"

I think that wraps it up nicely.

In other news...

Hey people who believe/don't believe stuff! Ever wonder how popular or unpopular you really are? Here's a handy chart from Gallup* that not only shows who's more well-liked than you, but also includes percentages, so you can see exactly how much more. (Thanks Dave, for the heads up!)

I think this chart shows** that people's tolerance for any group is in reverse proportion to the perception of how strongly held its beliefs are. And I've created my own chart to further illustrate this point:

**With the exception of the Baptist ranking, which I'm pretty sure is an anomaly. See second chart, below, for further illustration.

*Here's the link to the entire Gallup article. Which is really focused more on America's feelings toward Catholics, but isn't as interesting (to me) as the broader analysis.
